Phase 1: Acute or Relief Phase of Care
Many people seek chiropractic care because they are in pain. During this initial phase of care, the primary goal is to reduce your symptoms. This may require daily visits or two to three visits per week over a period of time, depending on your condition.
It’s a common misconception that being pain-free means you’re healthy. Unfortunately, pain is a poor indicator of overall health. In many cases, pain and other symptoms only appear after a condition has progressed significantly. Take a cavity, for example—does it hurt when it first forms, or only once it has become serious? The same can be said for heart disease, cancer, diabetes, stress, or spinal issues. Pain is often the last symptom to appear. When you begin chiropractic care, pain is typically the first symptom to improve, but the underlying condition often requires continued attention to ensure complete healing and long-term health. |
